Working in partnership with parents
We aim to work in partnership with parents to meet the needs of all our children. All children and adults are treated with equal concern and are made to feel welcome in our settings.
➢ Wherever possible we try to meet parents' requests for the care of their children according to their values and practices, preferences and attitudes. Family customs and beliefs about dietary requirements, dress code, hair and skin care, help required with toilet and washing are respected as detailed in our equal opportunities policy.
➢ Records of the requirements agreed are kept in our child files which are kept locked away as per GDPR policy.
➢ We share information with the parents/carers upon collection, and keep you updated with relevant information as required as well as providing newsletters throughout the academic year. You will have access to tapestry where your child’s learning journey is recorded where we can share their journey together. You can see how your child is developing within the areas within the early years foundation stage.
➢ We ask that you inform us of any changes in the child’s home circumstances, care arrangements, or any other changes which may affect the child's behaviour such as a new baby, parents separation, divorce, new partner, bereavement. All information will be kept confidential unless there appears to be a child protection issue.
➢ We work with parents to make sure that the care of the child is consistent. A consistent approach benefits the child's welfare and helps ensure the child is not confused.
➢ We recognise and support parents as their child’s first and most important educators, and to welcome them into the life of the nursery.
➢ Talk to the parents about what the child has learnt and encourage continuity of teaching in the home.
➢ Generate confidence and encourage parents to trust their own instincts and judgement
regarding their own child.
➢ Maintain regular contact with parents to help us to build a secure and beneficial working
relationship for their children.
➢ Operate a key person system to enable a close working relationship with all parents. Support two-way information sharing regarding each child’s individual needs both in nursery and at home.
➢ We will consider and discuss all suggestions from parents concerning the care and early learning of their child and the settings operation.
➢ Inform all parents of the systems for registering queries, compliments, complaints or suggestions, and to check that these systems are understood by parents. All parents have access to our written complaints procedure.
